Williamsville teen sings her way into ‘Clique’ movie

The “Clique” book series by Lisi Harrison, which tells the story of a new girl who collides into the inner circle of four privileged and popular junior high girls, is quite popular among preteen and teen girls. However, one Williamsville South freshman, 14-yearold Juliet Shatkin, is particularly indebted to the books.

Back in 2006, the longest-running movie franchise in film history, the James Bond movies based on Ian Fleming’s novels, was rebooted in the critically acclaimed box-office smash “Casino Royale.” “Royale” was the first film for new Bond actor Daniel Craig, and it showed how James became Bond.

Old Man Winter is making his visit back to Buffalo, and with the cold temperatures, many are making the change to winter coats and scarves. As Buffalonians get ready to dust off their cocoa mugs and get reacquainted with their favorite rocking chair, Hamburg senior Joe Whelan is running through the elements, continuing his streak as one of the best runners in the state. NeXt sat down with Whelan and asked him a few questions.

It’s hard to describe what 3oh!3 sounds like, but vocalist/programmer Sean Foreman can do it in one sentence. “It’s like Celine Dion on Ice or an Abercrombie and Fitch revival. Maybe electro thug.”

CChristian hardcore rock band Haste the Day came through Buffalo’s Xtreme Wheels Skate Park earlier this month, and we got to chat with vocalist Stephen Keech about “Dreamer,” their fourth record, and what they’ve been up to. Haste the Day, from Indianapolis, is Keech, guitarist/ vocalist Brennan Chaulk, drummer Devin Chaulk, and bassist/vocalist Michael Murphy.

HONK!: Iroquois High School will present the musical, “Honk!,” at 7 p. m. Friday and at 3 and 7 p. m. Saturday directed by Lisa Ludwig Kramer. The production stars in the photo below, from left, Chris DeSanto (Drake), Matt Zydel (Ugly) and Mary Grace Fehskens (Ida). Tickets ($8, $6 for students and seniors) will be sold at the door.
