Angelo Coniglio, one of the top advocates and historians of the American Football League, will speak at a lunch at noon Thursday at Chef's Restaurant, 291 Seneca St., Buffalo. Coniglio taught civil engineering at the University at Buffalo for 25 years. Cost for UB Alumni Association members is $14; nonmembers' cost is $16. Reservation deadline is Monday. Call 645-3312.

Members of the Buffalo Jewish Community Center have already logged 609 miles with a goal of 1,000 to help fight breast cancer during October. The JCC purchased two pink treadmills from CYBEX during their recent million dollar renovation. These treadmills enable CYBEX to donate 10 cents for every mile logged throughout the month to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The Buffalo Bandits have signed forward Sean Greenhalgh and defense-man Joe Smith to one-year contracts. Greenhalgh rebounded from a severe knee injury in 2008 to score 15 goals and 22 assists in 15 games last season. Smith appeared in 10 games for Buffalo in 2009, with one assist.
